We understand that the staffing process can be confusing and overwhelming for those unfamiliar with the industry. Allow us to answer some of the questions frequently asked about Medix and the staffing process to provide you with the basic information you might want to know when selecting a staffing company. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to submit your inquiries via the Contact Us form.
How does the staffing process at Medix work?
We are constantly trying to meet the demands of our clients and find candidates to place in their vacant positions. If you want to be the next person filling one of those positions, call the office nearest you to speak with one of our recruiters. The initial conversation allows the recruiter to get a grasp of your skills and interests. Then, you will meet with one of our recruiters in person so we can establish the strong relationship that is so crucial in Medix’s placement process. Once we understand your skills and interests, we will notify you of any available positions we think are the right fit. We will also provide you with any advice or assistance you may need during the interview process. If you do find the right fit and are hired, we will even walk you in on your first day of work!
What are the requirements to contract with Medix?
We have no specific set of requirements for education, experience, etc. at Medix. Some of the clients we work with have requirements to hold specific positions, but there are no rigid guidelines to contract with Medix. We will help you market the skills you do have and find a position that fits your experience.
What should I bring to the first meeting with Medix?
When you come for your initial interview with a Medix recruiter, you should bring two forms of identification and extra copies of your resumé, along with a list of professional references. You should double check with your recruiter before you come to see if you will need copies of nursing licenses or any other paperwork. Bringing along a notebook and pen would be helpful as well, so you can track any notes or questions you might have throughout the meeting. Please note that you will be asked to fill out an application and paperwork upon arrival; another option is to visit the application link, print off a copy, complete it and bring it with you to expedite the process. And most importantly, bring a positive attitude.
Will I be obligated to accept any positions?
Not at all. We will work hard to try and find the right fit, but it is ultimately your decision what position is right for you.
Does it cost anything to contract with Medix?
Our staffing services are 100% free to our contract employees.
How often do I get paid?
As a contract employee of Medix, you will be mailed a check from Medix weekly. Or, you can avoid the hassle of the mail system completely by utilizing our direct deposit option.
What benefits will I be eligible for?
As a contract employee with Medix, you can choose to enroll in our Benefits Program during your eligibility period and enjoy:
When do my benefits start?
All contract employees are eligible for benefits. You must enroll in benefits within 30 days after your first day of work, after which your eligibility period will expire. Your coverage will begin the first of month following 30 days of employment. For example, if you begin work on April 15th, 30 days later is May 15th, so your benefits will begin on the next first of the month, which would be June 1st. Please note that insurance cards typically take 7 - 10 business days for receipt.
Whose employee am I, and who do I answer to?
You are essentially an employee of both Medix and the company at which you are hired. If you miss a day of work or are having problems at the job, it is important that you contact both your boss and your recruiter so everyone is on the same page and we can accurately assess how the placement is going.
As a contract employee on a temporary assignment, will I ever get a full-time position?
It is a possibility, but it depends on the particular assignment. Some assignments are strictly to fill a position vacant for a set time, such as a maternity leave. However, many temporary positions serve as probationary/test period to see how you fit with the company, and there is the possibility that it could turn into something more permanent.
Why would I want to accept a position that is only temporary?
There are many benefits to exploring your options through temporary employment. Perhaps you want to explore the field but are not certain you want to make it a full-time commitment. Temporary jobs are also a good way to earn money while finding a permanent job. It can also help you build valuable experience to secure other jobs down the road.
